Some Frequently Asked Questions What guarantees that the customer will receive the diamond after having wired the payment? Gendiat is a diamond manufacturing company that was established in 1969. We have been in business for so many years thanks to many repeat satisfied customers. Our business is based on our reputation, and we maintain it by offering the best diamonds as well as the best customer service available. Furthermore, Gendiat is now located in the worlds oldest diamond exchange, called the Diamantclub van Antwerpen (62 Pelikaanstraat, Antwerp, Belgium), which was founded back in 1893. You may reach the Diamantclub at Tel: (323) 232 7655. Mr. Zai, owner of Gendiat, is also a member of the Diamond Dealers Club, which was established in 1975 (580 Fifth Avenue, New York). The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is located in the same building. You may reach the Diamond Dealers Club at Tel: (212) 869 9777. If any wrongdoing from Gendiat are ever reported to the above two prestigious professional institutions, Gendiat runs the risk of being expelled from them.
What guarantees that the diamond the customer paid for is the same as the one he/she will receive? HRD seals each certified diamond in a plastic holder together with a microfilm of the certificate. The invoice will indicate the carat, the price and the certificate number of the diamond. The diamond expert of the Belgian Customs will inspect the diamond against the invoice and the original certificate, and then all sealed in a metal box before export.
How good is HRD compared with GIA? The diamond gradings from HRD and GIA are compatible. They are both non-profit organizations. The Belgian Customs for diamond is located in the basement of the HRD building to show the importance of HRD in the Belgian Government Administration. Diamond accounts 6% of Belgian annual export.
